Lucky in Love 3D Shamrock Art {Tutorial} [Create with Me March Project]

I am excited to show you my Create with Me project for March!  Here it is!  I will show you how I made it. But first I have to tell you a little about it.  I am not a lucky person!  I don’t win things, I don’t find money, I just don’t have great luck! But, there is one thing I am extremely lucky in….Love!  I am so stinking lucky to have found myself the world’s BEST husband!  Seriously.  He really is the most wonderful husband imaginable.  He treats me like a queen! He is so kind and loving to me.  He never says mean things to me, even when we are arguing.  He always supports me in the things I want to do.  He tells me I am beautiful all the time…like every day…and he means it.  He helps me around the house tons!  He would do anything to make me happy.  He is absolutely wonderful to me and I am the luckiest girl in the world to be married to him!  So, to commemorate my unbelievable luck when it comes to love, I made this:

I’m making a little St. Patrick’s Day package to send to my son at college.  I picked up some Irish Spring soap (what’s more Irish than that??) to throw in to the box.  I decided to make a cute little tag to go on it and offer it to my readers as a free download.  Enjoy!

Simple LUCKY Banners: St. Patrick’s Day Craft

So, somehow I got this plan to make each of my boys a decoration for each holiday.  I guess I didn’t realize that recreating a craft 5 times over is A LOT of work!  But it is also fun for them to have something festive in their room for each holiday.

I love my St. Patrick’s Day banner so much that I wanted to make my kids one.  But, I knew if I was going to make five of them it would need to be a lot simpler and faster to put together.

So this is what I came up with.  There are three that are the same and then two that are a little different.

Brighten a Friend’s Day!…St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Candy Bags

I made up these adorable little treat bags to take around to a few friends.  I bought my candy in bulk at WinCo. I was amazed at the amount of foods they sell from bulk bins! Definitely worth checking out!

These were so fun to put together and deliver.  I hope they brought a smile to my girlfriends’ faces today!

To make them, just put in four Rolo, and then layer in your candies in rainbow colors.  It only takes a few pieces of each color to fill the bags.  The only purple candy I could find was Grapevines (grape Redvines).  I just used some kitchen shears to cut them into small pieces.  Add a cute tag and ribbon and you’re ready to brighten someone’s day!

Lightening Fast Banner Project {ReMarkableHome.net}

The other day while making my big St. Patrick’s Day banner and waiting for my cute neighbor to get home from the craft store with glitter for me to finish it, I used some paper scraps to make this super cute little bunting banner!  It took about 10-15 minutes!  Isn’t it darling?

To make it simply.....

Learn To Make Tissue Pom Poms {Tutorial @ ReMarkableHome.net}

As promised, here is my little tutorial for tissue pom poms! They really are easy to do, especially these little ones.

Step 1. Get your layers of tissue.  The width of your tissue determines how big your ball will be.  For my St. Patrick’s Day banner, I used 7” tissue squares.  Typically, you use a rectangle…don’t ask me why I did squares.  The longer your rectangle, the fuller your ball will be.  You will need several layers of tissue.  For these I used 8 layers, but for a bigger ball I’d use 10 or 12.  Try to lay them out with the corners matched up.  Don’t worry if it isn’t perfect.

Step 2.  Accordion fold your tissue paper.  If you’re using rectangular tissue, start from the short end.  The size of your accordions depends on the size of your ball.  For these little guys my folds were about 1/2”.  For a 12” ball I’d probably do about an inch.  It doesn’t have to be perfect.  If your last fold isn’t the same size, don’t worry.  It will be fine.


Step 3. Use scissors to trim the ends. I trimmed mine round here, which makes for a flowery look.  You can also trim into a point, which looks more spiky.  You could even cut into it in a V.  Again, it doesn’t have to be perfect.


Step 4. Fold it in half to find the center.  Then use some wire or string to tie around the center.  If you’re going to hang them from the ceiling, make a little loop to attach your monofilament onto.  For these I just tied a knot and trimmed the string off later when I glued them onto my banner.  It doesn’t need to be super tight.  I usually pinch it slightly but some people leave them totally flat.  Either way is fine.  You just don’t want the wire or string slipping around.


Step 5.  Open up each side like a fan.  Then carefully start to separate the layers, pulling these top two together in the center.  Be careful not to rip the paper, but if you rip it a little don’t worry.  No one will notice!


Once you have them all separated you are done! See, I told you they were easy!  Isn’t it purty?

LUCKY St. Patrick’s Day Banner Tutorial {ReMarkableHome.net}

I’m so excited to show you my new St. Patrick’s Day banner! Yesterday, I neglected my housework and spent the afternoon crafting this.  I am in love with it!  I hope you like it, too!

I didn’t take step by step photos, but I will tell you what you need and give you a few pointers on how to make it.  It was actually really easy.  The only problem with it is that it is too long for my mantle and I had to hang it from the wall on either side of the mantle.  SO, be sure you measure your mantle and don’t make the same mistake I did! You can make the elements smaller to shrink the length a bit.  I will tell you what size mine are and you can go from there.  Okie dokie??

Here is a list of the things I used, but feel free to use what you have on hand.  There’s really no right way to make these.  Just start layering things on!

Introducing: PINTERESTING TUESDAYS @ ReMarkable Home

There’s just no way I can create ALL my own content for this blog if I expect to post regularly. I just can’t do it. So, although I don’t want my whole blog to turn into a blog featuring other bloggers, I do want to devote some posts to featuring other bloggers’ content.

I am a Pinterest Junkie! When I am waiting in the carpool line or have a minute to sit down, I love to browse Pinterest on my phone. The amount of ideas on there is just amazing. Sometimes I have to take a break from it because it can be overwhelming. You pin about a million things you want to do and pretty much never get around to doing any of them!

But Pinterest is a great way to find ideas or inspiration for anything and everything. Lately, I’ve been looking for St. Patrick’s Day ideas. I’ve been Googling and Pinning things I find. And I’ve been re-pinning things I see on Pinterest that I like.

So, today I am going to be sharing some St. Patrick’s Day wreaths, because I just adore wreaths and aspire to have one (or ten) for every holiday.

ISN’T THIS NEXT ONE FUN?......

Showing the REAL

So, I've been thinking alot about this little blog of mine.  I have been thinking to myself, "There are so many amazing blogs out there written by more talented ladies with better ideas.  Why would anyone want to read MY blog?".

Now, honestly, I did not start this blog in hopes of getting tons of followers.  My original idea was to just have a place to list the items I create for sale so that my friends and family could direct their friends and family to see them (and hopefully buy them).  But recently, I decided to post some of the things I have done, like parties and crafts, on Facebook for my friends to see.  Why?  Because mothering five boys is hard and not always fun!  Boys are not too good at noticing the things their mother does to make their home and lives special.  So, I guess I was looking for a little validation and praise for my hard work.  Thankfully my FB friends gave me just what I needed and it made me feel like all my efforts were worth it!

So, back to the blog....I decided that it would really be fun to put my ideas and creative endeavors out into blogland for all to see and enjoy.  I SO enjoy reading the blogs that I follow and getting inspired by others creative ideas.  It is one really enjoyable thing that I can do for myself each day.  So I decided maybe I did have something to offer people and decided to use this blog to showcase my own creative endeavors and hobbies.

Now, I don't know about you, but sometimes when I read blogs I start to feel really down on myself.  I wonder how these amazing women can seemingly "do it all" and do it all so well!  Sometimes I have to take a blog break because I start to feel like a failure or like I am not good enough.  I don't think we women should have to feel that way.  We all have different talents and strengths and weaknesses.  No one can "do it all."  People put their best face forward on blogs.  Many of the big time bloggers spend hours a day on their blogs because they are their source of income.  It is their job.  My job is being a stay at home mom to five boys.  I am lucky because I don't HAVE to work out of the home.  I'm not saying we are rolling in dough over here.  Money is actually VERY tight.  But we have chosen for me to not work outside the home.  I honestly don't know how working moms do it.  I think they are AMAZING!  I can't even keep up with my house and meet my kids needs when I am here all day every day.

Anyway, so, in thinking of how I could make my blog a little different I decided I am going to try to keep it very real.  I am going to try to be very honest with my posts and projects.  I am going to try to show you when things don't work out quite right....and that happens ALOT around here!  I am also going to give you a glimpse into what real life is like when raising five boys.  In other words, I am going to try to keep it real.  I will show you parties that are NOT over the top and perfect, yet the kids still have a great time.  I will probably spare you seeing pictures of the ring of pee around my toilets or the HUGE pile of dirt I sweep up off my kitchen floors.

SO, for my first case in point....
While other mothers got up early on St. Patrick's Day to make their sweet children an amazing green breakfast of green pancakes shaped like clovers, cups of rainbow fruit salad, traditional Irish scones, green eggs and milk, all served on a beautifully decorated tablescape, I served my kids this:

Don't worry, I dyed a gallon of milk green to go with it!

And guess what!  They absolutely LOVED it!
